Buying Sustainable Timber - 2nd Edition

The Buying Sustainable Timber guide is designed to help European public authorities make sure the timber products they buy are sustainable. It offers a straightforward procurement model with text which can be directly inserted into tendering documents. It also offers guidance for authorities that wish to go beyond this and seek to use timber procurement as a tool to help improve the livelihoods of forest communities and workers in less developed countries.

Following considerable interest and feedback on the 1st edition, a new edition was published in October 2013. Printed copies of the English guide can be requested from

It is also available in German, Italian, Romanian, Spanish and Hungarian.
